Going Horse Riding

In my summer holidays one day we went horse riding at Mammoth Springs in Yellowstone National Park. When we reached the trail, my mom and dad were caught in a trap because an older person had to ride a horse too. Well my dad remembered the smell of horses from another time and so he refused. My mom had to come with me and she wasn’t happy at all as she is scared of all animals.

First we had to read the instructions, and then Jeff the trail boss gave me my horse. His name was Phill and he was a Quarter horse. Phill’s hide was as smooth as velvet and it felt warm when I touched him. I was so excited I couldn’t wait for Jeff to mount me on Phill.

Finally we rode out of the corral and started the ride. While we were riding Jeff told us to be careful of the buffaloes, but I thought my dreams were coming true with all the buffaloes around us. After ten minutes of riding I got shocked because Jeff showed us some elk bones and skulls just scattered on the round. This made me think of a huge ferocious grizzly. I got so scared that I accidently kicked Phill and he started a gallop. Riding so fast got the grizzly out of mind clean.

Five minutes later we reached the corral again. For a souvenir Jeff gave everyone a horse shoe nail. That was an awesome horse ride and I have the nail saved in my treasure box.
